Head coach Enze Postecoglou has been honored with the October Head Coach of the Month award. He becomes the fourth manager to win the award three times in a row.

The Premier League (PL) announced the October Manager of the Month award on its official website on Tuesday. Postecoglou, who has overseen Tottenham Hotspur’s rise to prominence, beat out Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool), and Unai Emery (Aston Villa) for the award.

Spurs won all three of their league games in the month of October. They held off Luton Town 1-0, defeated Fulham 2-0, and earned a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. Spurs were the only team to win all of their matches in October.

In doing so, Postecoglou became the fourth manager to win three or more Manager of the Month awards. The first was Antonio Conte, who won three in a row from October through December 2016 while at Chelsea. Then Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola won the award four times in a row from September through December 2017. Klopp, who was in contention with Postecoglou this time around, won the award three times in a row from November 2019 to January 2020.

Postecoglou joined Tottenham ahead of this season. He joined Celtic in 2021 after coaching in Asia, including Australia and Japan. Postecoglou quickly proved his leadership skills. In his first season in charge, the Hoops won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup, making it a double.

Last season, he completed the “Domestic Treble” (winning three domestic titles). They won the league, the League Cup, and the FA Cup. Tottenham have expressed interest. At the time, Tottenham were struggling under Nuno Espirito Santo, so the club decided to make a managerial change just four months into the season. Spurs rebounded under Conte and finished fourth in the league. It wasn’t a trophy, but it wasn’t a bad result. Spurs were back in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) for the first time in three years.

In order to support Conte, the club made a major reinforcement ahead of last season. The addition of the likes of Christian Bale and Ivan Perisic didn’t go down well. Spurs were knocked out of every cup competition they entered, including the FA Cup and League Cup, as well as the UCL after a long absence. They were increasingly out of contention for the league title.
