After scoring a late, theatrical equalizer, Daejeon Hanatis midfielder Masa revealed that he intends to do his best in the remaining matches, even if it is for his own sake.

Daejeon came from two goals down in the first half to draw 2-2 with Suwon Samseong in the 35th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 at Suwon World Cup Stadium on Sept. 29, thanks to Thiago’s 36th-minute consolation goal and Masa’s dramatic equalizer in stoppage time.

Prior to the game, Daejeon had already secured their place in the top flight and began preparing for next season by making changes to their starting lineup. The 1-1 draw at home to Suwon FC in the 34th round of the league on Oct. 22 left them with 46 points (11 wins, 13 losses, 10 draws), meaning that even if they lose their remaining four games, including the trip to Suwon, they won’t be overtaken by 10th-place Suwon FC (32-8 wins, 8 losses, 18 draws).

Daejeon dropped some key players to the bench, including Massa and Leandro, as they conceded goals to Kim Joo-chan and Acosti in the 21st and 30th minutes, respectively, to go into halftime 0-2 down.

Daejeon pulled out all the stops to earn a dramatic draw for the fans who traveled to Suwon. In the 36th minute of the second half, Thiago, who is in contention for the K League 1’s top scorer award, took a pass from Kang Yoon-sung and rattled the Suwon goal.

Thiago’s goal spurred Daejeon to a dramatic equalizer in late stoppage time, sending the away fans into a frenzy. After falling behind by one goal, Daejeon continued to pound away at the Suwon goal until Masa found the back of the net from Thiago’s header pass to make the score 2-2.

With the point against Suwon, Daejeon increased its points tally to 47 (11W, 14D, 10L) and remained in eighth place. On the other hand, Suwon, with 26 points (6W8D21L), remained in 12th place in the league as they failed to escape the bottom of the table.

Joining Suwon in the post-match press conference was Masa, the equalizer. Masa started the match from the bench, but after coming on as a substitute in the 27th minute, he scored his fourth goal of the season in second-half stoppage time to give Daejeon a point. 메이저사이트

“When I came on (the field), we conceded the second goal and there were situations where we could have conceded the third, but it was good not to concede,” Massa said in the press conference.

“Everyone said we did well. I’m close with Ahn Byung-joon, Han Ho-gang, and Kazuki from Suwon Samseong, so I told them I felt a little sorry for them.”

“I’m not really that kind of player, but I couldn’t help it because it was second-half stoppage time,” he said, adding, “I had a lot of experience, so when Thiago made the header pass, I knew I had to go in.”
