Former Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has taken the helm of Birmingham City.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Rooney as the new manager of Birmingham City. The contract is for a period of three years and six months.”

Birmingham, which plays in the English Championship (second tier), has gotten off to a slow start this season. After 11 games in the league, they have five wins, three draws, and three losses, leaving them in sixth place with 18 points.

Eventually, the knives came out. Birmingham fired head coach John Eustace on September 9th. Eustace took over the reins at Birmingham last year, but was relieved of his duties after failing to achieve any significant results.

Eustace was succeeded by Rooney. Rooney was hired by Birmingham for his leadership skills at Derby County and DC United.

He also assembled his own coaching staff. He brought former England teammates Ashley Cole and John O’Shea to the Birmingham bench.

He also brought in Carl Robinson and Pete Shuttleworth, both of whom had worked with him in the MLS, to round out a stellar coaching staff. 스포츠토토

Rooney told Birmingham’s official website: “I am delighted to be appointed as Birmingham manager. I accepted the role because of the ambition and vision of the Birmingham organization,” Rooney said on the club’s official website.

“This is an important opportunity for me as I continue to build my managerial career. I can’t wait to get out on the pitch as Birmingham manager.”
