KT Wiz has secured its fourth consecutive postseason berth with two straight wins.

KT completed a two-game winning streak with a 5-3 victory over the KIA Tigers in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on Friday. With the win, KT secured at least a fifth-place finish and a postseason berth, putting them in a very favorable position in the race for second place.

With LG clinching its first regular season title in 29 years on the last three days, the race for the postseason remains hot. With 76 wins, three draws and 75 points, KT has a solid hold on second place, followed by third-place Doosan (70 wins, two draws and 62 points), fourth-place NC and SSG (70 wins, three draws and 63 points) and sixth-place KIA (66 wins, two draws and 67 points).

In a pre-match interview, head coach Lee Kang-cheol said, “When we look at the number of cases, we have a big advantage. NC, SSG, and Doosan all have games against each other. If one team wins, the other team will definitely lose. So if we win two out of the five remaining games, including today’s, our competitors will have to go 8-2. And if we win three, they have to win almost all of them,” he said optimistically about the race for second place. 먹튀검증

With the win, KT improved to 76 wins, three draws and 75 losses. Sixth-ranked KIA lost to KT on the day, leaving them with 66 wins, two draws and 67 points. Even if KT loses all of its remaining games and KIA wins all of its games, KT’s winning percentage (.539 for 76 wins, 3 draws, and 65 losses) is higher than KIA’s (.528 for 75 wins, 2 draws, and 67 losses), so at least fifth place is assured. In clinching a postseason berth, the team has qualified for the postseason for four consecutive years from 2020 to this year.

The race for second place is also green. Doosan, who didn’t play today but moved up to third with NC’s loss, will have 80 wins, 2 draws, and 62 losses for a .563 winning percentage if they win all of their remaining games. KT can clinch second place on its own with 80 wins, 3 ties, 61 losses, and a .567 winning percentage if it wins all of its remaining games. If KT wins just one of its remaining four games, Doosan will need to win eight of its remaining 10 games, and if KT wins two, it will need to win nine. If KT wins three games, Doosan will need to win all of them to pull off the upset.

With a very favorable position in the race for second place, KT has games against Samsung Electronics on June 6, Hanwha on June 7, Hanwha on June 8, and Doosan on June 10.
