Toronto was picked to win the World Series this season. With Ryu Hyun-jin Ryu (36, Toronto), the analysis is that now is the time to win.
Bleacher Report ranked the Jays No. 5 on its list of teams in need of a World Series championship on Monday, behind Milwaukee, Texas, Tampa Bay and Seattle. Toronto hasn’t been to the pinnacle in 30 years, since 1992 and 1993.
Toronto jumped up to the No. 2 wild card and is looking to make the postseason. “Toronto hasn’t won a championship since the early ’90s, so it’s a now-or-never mentality,” said Bleacher Report. There have been offseasons where they’ve been considered World Series favorites, but they haven’t won more than 93 games in a season since 1993.”
Bleacher Report emphasized that given Toronto’s current form, it’s time for a championship. “The Jays have Matt Chapman, Whit Merrifield, Kevin Kiermaier, Brandon Belt, Hyun-jin Ryu and Jordan Hicks, among others, who will be eligible for free agency after this season. After the 2025 season, the Jays will need to either let Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Beau Bisset, Danny Jansen, and Jordan Romano walk or acquire them for a large sum of money.” 먹튀검증 “Chris Bassett, George Springer, and Kevin Gausman will play through the 2025 season in Toronto, but are getting older.”
Anchoring Toronto’s starting rotation is Hyun-jin Ryu, who is also recognized as a puzzle piece to the championship challenge. After rehabbing from elbow surgery for more than a year, Ryu has been pitching well since his return. He hasn’t thrown more than 90 pitches in his career, but he has a 2.62 ERA in three starts. When Ryu is on the mound, Toronto is able to play calculated baseball because they don’t give up a lot of runs.
Ryu will also be a free agent after this season. He has a lot of motivation to help Toronto win a championship.
